Radius of Influence Calculator

by Glenn M. Duffield, President, HydroSOLVE, Inc.

The radius of influence for a pumping well in an infinite confined aquifer is given as follows (Bear 1979):

R(t) = 1.5(Tt/S)1/2

where R(t) is radius of influence [L], T is transmissivity [L2/T], t is time [T], and S is storage coefficient [dimensionless].

Radius of Influence Calculator

Transmissivity (T) = [L2/T]
Storage Coefficient (S) = [dimensionless]
Time (t) = [T]

Use consistent units for the above input parameters.
For example, enter T in m2/day and t in days to compute R(t) in m.
